What is MDR?
Managed Detection and Response (MDR) is a cloud-based security-as-a-service offering that allows companies to outsource the security operations center (SOC). The use of AI, SOC, threat hunting, and incident response are all elements of MDR. MDR monitors in real-time, to enable a faster response, even outside regular business hours. MDR technology is continually refined to detect new cyber threats as they are discovered based on real-world incidents.
When a threat is detected, it is addressed at three levels
- Validate. If a security event is detected, it is reviewed to confirm it is not a false positive. From there, the level of threat is identified.
- Mitigate. The event is quickly addressed, and isolated or contained.
- Remediate. A solution is identified to address the event.
